Kudos for PNM
On June 13, the Mendocino Court cul-de-sac experienced a power outage, beginning near 5 PM, and lasting about 4 hours. The residents there did not know what caused the outage, and I, for one, didn't know how the outage ended, since I was in bed when the power came back on.
The next morning, June 14, the normally quiet morning was disturbed by the arrival of a pickup and a large truck with a trailer. The three people who arrived in these vehicles explained that the cause of the outage the previous night was a blown fuse, and they were here to replace the transformer (and its associated fuse) with ones of twice the capacity. In fact, the diagram they showed me indicated that this transformer and one other nearer Desert Ridge Middle School were scheduled for replacement.
The replacement process kept all three men quite busy for about an hour and a half. The supervisor tried to contact each home which was going to have its power interrupted, then the three of them replaced the transformer box, with only about 20 minutes of power outage.
I think PNM, the power company, deserves a lot of credit for solving a problem less than one day after it was brought forcefully to their attention by a (very big) blown fuse!
Thanks, PNM!
